| The oldest, most prestigious tennis tournament in the world is here again, the 2010 Wimbledon championships get underway on June 21. 6-time winner and reigning champion Roger Federer heads in to the tournament as favourite, but the men's title is well and truly up for grabs. After being unable to defend his 2008 Wimbledon title, newly crowned French Open champion Rafael Nadal is back and the new world number 1 looks in ominous form. Britain's hopes rest on the Scot Andy Murray, who was a beaten semi-finalist last year and the man who beat him in that semi-final, Andy Roddick, cannot be discounted after falling agonisingly short last year. Aussie hopes rest on Lleyton Hewitt, and expectations have risen after an impressive victory over Roger Federer in Halle last week. On the women's side, the Williams sisters will be the red hot favourites, they have 9 singles titles between them at this great event, and they will no doubt fancy there chances again. Former champion Maria Sharapova will be amongst the contenders, as well comeback queens Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin. Britain won't be expecting anything special from there female contingent, but teenager Laura Robson has been handed a wildcard and there will be a lot of local interest surrounding the former junior girl's winner. As for the Aussie's, French Open runner-up Sam Stosur must surely be a leading contender to win the tournament, but it remains to be seen if she can take her clay court form on to the hallowed grass courts of Wimbledon.
My favourite Grand Slam No way am I going to back against Roger on grass, but I do think Nadal deserves favouritsm just as much as Federer does. Another Federer/Nadal final would be fantastic. My interest on the Women's will be on Laura Robson, not expecting too much from her, just happy that she's been given a wild card I'm hoping Sharapova does well and it would be great to see her win it again. |

| Hopfully Fed wins. He's superb on grass though didn't impress in the last GS, which I see as more of an aberration than a sign he's done. I certainly think he'll win more GS and as he's shown in the past the upcoming two are the ones at which he performs best, though we Fed fans will be more than aware that it's pretty much impossible for him to regain #1 this season, with Nadal having no points to defend at Wimbledon and Federer having plenty to defend at both the next two Slams. I would be backing Fed still, I've backed him for years as others have told me he's done only to see him pull out some more Slams, though I am very wary of Nadal. He's an X-factor and a potential huge obstacle to the Fed Express. Still hoping Dementieva wins a Slam one day but time's running out.... _________________ |

| My preview will probably come on Sunday.
While looking forward to Wimbledon, it will take a back seat to the World Cup. |

| Love Wimbledon. I always get up to watch it, but as others have said, it might have to wait until there is a dud game on in the WC. Tipping Federer to win here |

| Ohh I love the Wimbledon! Cant see anyone but Federer taking it out, Nadal to meet him in another epic final hopefully . As for the womens id love to see Sammy Stosur do well, she hasnt done well here in the past but hopefully she can bring her clay court form onto the grass. _________________ '71 WHL '89 Anfield '02 OT '04 WHL AFC.

| Good win for Tomic, Armritraj is inside the top 150 players, and from brief memory I think he is only a few spots out of the top 128 players while Tomic is still outside the top 250 players. so to win in straight sets is a good effort from Bernie!
Edit: sorry that was Devvarman I was thinking of. _________________ |

| Gasquet is out with a rib injury (apparently) so looks like i'll be jumping on the ley ley bandwagon as my main hope for the title... As all I can hope for Istomin is a couple of W and making to the 3rd round. Which he is capable of after just losing to Nadal at queens in a 3 set match that went for about 4 hours..
As for Ley Ley he can do some real damage but would need a couple of things to go his way (like they did last year). One of which is his draw from the 4th round on. If his is lucky enough to avoid being in Federer and Roddicks quater, I can see him making the semi's and possibly the Final if he gets the best draw and results go his way as I honestly believe he is in the top 5 grass court players on the tour _________________ Here's to us fools that have no meaning, I tip my glass to you, let's toast the night away to friends and forget about tomorrow

| Ley Ley drew Novak in the 4th round and is in Roddicks quater and Federers half edit and Gael Monfils (sp?) in the 3rd round _________________ Here's to us fools that have no meaning, I tip my glass to you, let's toast the night away to friends and forget about tomorrow
