| Who do you think should be NZs Sports Person of the decade?
Previous winners are:
1900s - 1905 All Blacks 1910s - Anthony Wilding (Tennis) 1920s - George Nepia (Rugby) 1930s - Jack Lovelock (Athletics) 1940s - Bert Sutcliffe (Cricket) 1950s - Yvette Williams (Athletics) 1960s - Peter Snell (Athletics)* 1970s - John Walker (Athletics) 1980s - Sir Richard Hadlee (Cricket) 1990s - Danyon Loader (Swimming)
*Sports Person of the Century 1900-1999
I've just placed a few names in the poll based on what I've seen on the TV Ad and some others I think deserve a mention... _________________ |

| Well anyway. I think it has to go to one of our Olympians, either Sarah Ulmer, Valerie Vili or the Evers-Swindell sisters.
-Valerie Vili - Olympic Gold, 2 World Champs Golds and 1 Commonwealth Gold.
-Sarah Ulmer - Olympic and Commonwealth Gold Medal winner plus previous world record holder.
-Evers-Swindell sisters - 2 Olympic Golds and 3 World Champs Golds.
Had Richie lead his side to WC victory in 2007 he'd definitely get it. _________________ |

| I don't know Hendo - Richie would still be in the running IMO - the entire point of these longer-period awards is so that consisteny achievement over time (rather than isolated victories) can be awarded; and one of the massive things with Richie and the ABs has been their consistent dominance (WC bombs aside) of the sport throughout the decade.
That being said - I do agree that one of the Olympians has a stronger case - my vote would be the Evers-Swindell sisters due to the greater longevity of their efforts. _________________ There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

| fair point about Richie P'Rus. All Blacks have been dominant majority of the decade, but still they've never been world champions, and I reckon that counts for a lot.
I am leaning towards the Evers-Swindell sisters too, double Olympic golds is a massive achievement, only thing against them getting it is there is 2 of them and the award has gone to individuals since the 1910s. _________________ |

| Daniel Vettori. If he had someone around him like Warne had Mcgrath then he would have the honours he deserves. I love the way he goes about his cricket. Still looks like an accountant but _________________ South Sydney Rabbitohs

| you have to have won a year to be eligable for the person of the decade I believe and olympics always seem to count higher so I owuld go with either Waddell or Vili _________________ Warriors for the premiership 2010 |

| Where's Stephen Fleming. One of New Zealand's finest.
Who could ever forget this. |

| How does Vettori have most the votes? seriously out of those on the poll him and Stacey Jones would be the least likely. Vettori, although is the awesomest cricket player, hasn't really achieved anything amazing, no wc wins etc. _________________ |

With no Stephen Fleming in the poll, it's got to be NZ's second favorite son, Dan Vettori. |

| the all whites havent done anything yet if they get a win or draw at the world cup then yes they should get team of the year this year but not for last years qualification effort. |
