PostSubject: Sydney FC V Wellington Phoenix - Preliminary Final   Thu Mar 11, 2010 10:24 pm

Saturday 13th March
@ SFS 8.00 PM

Well the 2nd last game of the 2009-10 A-league season is upon us and who would have thought we would have seen Wellington play Sydney in the Preliminary final. The winner obviously will be given the rights to play Melbourne at Etihad in a weeks time, where the loser will be sent packing.

If I am absolutely honest, I would much rather meet Sydney in the grand final because it will finally ensure the A-league sees a classic, feirce grand final and I think that's how it will pan out with Sydney beating Wellington. I would love for Wellington to send Sydney out with embarrassment but I don't see them beating Sydney in Sydney. The Phoenix have been amazing this season and will be applauded with a win or a loss on Saturday. My tip is 2-1 to the blues but would actually not be surprised if Wellington pull out a great performance.

Would love a Wellington win but I think the Nix's journey is going to come to an end this weekend.

Sydney 3-1 Wellington
Aloisi and Ifill in the 1st half with Brosque to score a double in the 2nd.

PHOENIX!!!!!

5 games won in a row and that won't stop V Sydney.
Even though Sydney have won 3 from 3 this year this game is different. Do-or-die. Loser goes home. And I think that will be enough for the 'Nix to shift up a gear. Our defence has been extremelly solid with Reddy and Durante leading from the front in that department. And you know you have good depth when Johnny McKain or Benny Sigmund is going to be on the bench. And our attack awesome. Ifill and Tum Brown have been on fire all year and the other midfielders, attack and guys on the bench are all class.

Welllington Phoenix 2 (Ifill, McKain)
Sydney FC 0

COME ON PHOENIX!!!

Looking forward to the Phoenix season being over so we can stop hearing about Yellow Fever from all the bandwagoners. DOWN WITH PHOENIX! I may start up a cult.

Woo I am awesome Razz

Before I clicked onto the thread I said to myself "This will be Hendo putting Phoenix down" Razz

I remembered that you dislike them, I've known that ever since you done that blog about them taking over NZ sport... Laughing

Anyway, on topic. It would be great to see Phoenix get the win here, but as S06 said, Sydney getting through would be for the best for the A-League. We need a top notch Grand Final in the A-League, and just look at how the Semi Final was, both legs. They were great, and it would be good to see something like that in the grand final.

As s06 said. It'd be good for Sydney to get through to make it the Final we've been waiting for. But it'd be good to see em lose as well haha

I'm predicting a 2-1 Sydney win

Big thanks to the retards that are IFAB.
Your bright idea not to include technology into the game means goals like that will continue to stand. If we lose from that there is gonna be outrage from NZ and a massive rant from me.

Payne = Thierry Henry

If the Phoenix lose this will be football's version of the underarm incident

That whole post is so off the mark it's not funny...

Yes, it was a handball but I am not inclined to even think that Chris Payne did it on purpose, the replays showed his arm was already hanging there before the ball even got to him and it only hit it because he obviously missed the ball. It was obvious but it was not intentional. And any player would claim that.

I'm really happy with our performance so far, we've shut Ifill almost completely out of the game which is awesome. We should be 5-1 up with all the chances we've had but I don't mind, as long as we keep this up then I don't think we'll have too much to worry about Smile
