Saturday, 19 September, 7:30pm MCG
____________________________________________________________

2009 Meetings

Round 3, MCG
GEE 18.14.122
COL 13.17.95

Head to Head

Played 215
Geelong won 90
Collingwood won 124
Drawn 1

Geelong have arguably one of, if not the, best sides in the competition. They have lost very few games in the past 3 years and have dominated the competition in recent years. They defeated the Western Bulldogs by 14 points in their qualifying final to make it to week 3, and they now face Collingwood. The Magpies lost to St. Kilda in their qualifying final but then bounced back and had a brilliant comeback win over Adelaide last week. Who will win this do-or-die clash?

My Tip
Geelong by 16 points.

Woo Caity..

Alot of people are writing us off, but imo when that ball is bounced at the start of the night it will be a 50/50 affair. Carn Pies! Maggies by 9.

Geelong had been waiting for the Finals, come the Bulldogs game in Week 1 of the Finals and they were a different side. This, coupled with the Pies probably being a little fatigued after two very tough match against St. Kilda and Adelaide for me means the Cats will stroll to victory and join St. Kilda in the Grand Final.

Cats by 9 goals.

People are saying Geelong by shitloads.
Collingwood play good against them.

It will be a close game!

Exactly. People assume we're going to get belted, that won't happen, we will likely lose, but we always match up extremely well against the cats, when was the last time they absolutely smashed us?

NAB Cup Grand Final? If I remember rightly, both teams went pretty much full strength that game, and the Cats belted you.

Game will be over at 3 quarter time, Geelong will take the foot of the pedal and Collingwood will make it look like its not a big margin.

Yeah lol, that's the nab cup, whole different story, neither team were going full bore to win the game, we were experimenting with alot of young guys, as were Geelong, but they were a far better team than us.

When you're talking reality you can't look back at the nab cup for stats and results, because it means absolutely nothing...

Key part...both teams.
With both teams full strength, I think that it would be a close match.

Lol... It's a preliminary final, if Geelong were winning easily, which they won't be, why the hell would they slow down?

Collingwood coming off a tough affair although they were coming off a similarly tough game back in 07, still can't go past the Cats.
