OFFICIAL: Felipe Melo Extends Fiorentina Contract Until 2013

Brazilian international midfielder Felipe Melo has ended speculation surrounding his future at Fiorentina by signing an extension until June 30 2013.

His previous deal was set to expire in 2012, but the Gigliati have acted to fend off interest from top Italian, English and Spanish clubs.

This just confirms what he said last week about the interest from Inter. He said it was great to hear of it, but he did want to remain in Florence and I think it's better for him to stay.

Some Inter news:

Aly Cissokho linked to Inter - http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun30e.html

Not really sure what to make of this, he's seems a good player and especially considering he's 21, but honestly, I really don't want us spending $15M Euro's on a player in a position we don't need. Hope he goes to AC Milan if anywhere, definitely not us. If Maicon is sold, then it'll be a different story, but I think Maicon will stay.

PSG give up on Vieira - http://www.goal.com/en/news/90/france/2009/06/30/1354822/no-paris-saint-germain-move-for-inters-patrick-vieira

Unfortunate news, apparently it's the Wage Demands that are the problem. If we were able to secure that reported $6-7M I would have been rapped, but Vieira is on a very large salary at Inter so I guess $$$ mean more to him that regular football.

ARSENE HAS TOURE'S REPLACEMENT LINED UP
In other Arsenal news, The Daily Mirror reports that Kolo Toure is close to making his long mooted move to Manchester Citeh, but don't fear Gooners - Arsene Wenger has another youngster that barely anyone has heard of lined up to replace him.

Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci is the man in question, who was spouting forth yesterday about the many, many clubs that want him.

"I'm flattered that clubs like Arsenal, AC Milan and Juventus have had their eye on me in the past" he said.

The Mirror reports that Tasci is a 'tough, consistent performer' and, like Toure, can play in the middle or at right-back.

SPURS AND EVERTON BATTLE FOR BERG
More from The Daily Mirror now, and the paper reports that Everton and Tottenham will duke it out for the highly rated uberkid Marcus Berg from Groningen.

David Moyes had apparently hoped to pick yer man up for around £5million, but after plenty of interest in the striker from around Europe, that price has gone up to a nifty £10million.

That apparently hasn't put 'Arry Redknapp off, who has joined the chase according to the Mirror.

Meanwhile, The Daily Star claims Birmingham want to take Gareth Bale on a season loan from Spurs.

Arnautovic sign for Inter on Loan - http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/06/30/1356011/twente-starlet-arnautovic-signs-for-inter-report

Apparently because he has currently got a foot injury, we only wanted to get him on Loan and then sign him permanently at the end of the next season for around $9M Euro's.

Agent of Maicon insists he'll stay - http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/news.html

Chelsea set to make shock swoop for Boro's Turnbull

Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a shock swoop for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Ross Turnbull, who is available on a free transfer.

Turnbull rejected an offer of a new deal at 'Boro and is set to sign alongside Russian star Yuri Zhirkov and Manchester City's Daniel Sturridge, though a tribunal will need to set the fee for the young City striker after the clubs failed to compromise over the compensation due.

Middlesbrough confirmed Turnbull would be leaving the club last month, with Boro chief executive Keith Lamb claiming the 24-year-old wanted to leave in order to play regular first-team football.

Umm if he wants to play regular first-team football then why might he be moving to Chelsea...he would be a really handy backup to have but Cech doesn't look like going anywhere.

Could be good for Bale, still have high hopes for him but his career has definitely stalled big time. He needs regular footy and hopefully at left back, I much prefer him there to on the wing.

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes is facing the prospect of being priced out of signing Everton defender Joleon Lescott. Everton value the centre half at £20m, which is £5m more than Hughes is willing to pay.

Deco & Carvalho to Inter set to collapse as the teams can't agree a fee - http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jul1h.html

Pretty frustrating this, both players want to leave yet Chelsea playing hardball over the transfer fee. Hopefully something can be sorted out soon, but we certainly won't be the ones losing out in the deal as if it does collapse, Chelsea will have two players not wanting to be there.

Apparently because of the ongoing struggle to get Carvalho and Deco, Lucio and Eden Hazard are now names we're interested in - http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2009/07/02/1358916/report-inter-to-turn-to-bayern-munich-defender-lucio-lilles-eden-

Birmingham desperate to get Vieira - http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/07/02/1358669/birmingham-city-make-final-offer-to-inter-for-patrick-vieira

Not sure what to make of this, I'm all for him leaving but the Birmingham I'm not so sure, would have been happier seeing him go to PSG.

I don't think you can say you won't be the ones losing out on the deal, because you are missing out two vey good players. However it's not as if this is a dream situation for us to be in - as you said we have two players not wanting to be there and that can have a bad effect not only on their performance but the team's performance.

It's kind of a losing situation for both, because you miss out on two good players and we have two players who don't want to play for us.

Ribery wants to join new galacticos at Real

Franck Ribery has confirmed he wants to leave Bayern Munich and join Real Madrid to become the latest of the new galacticos.

The France playmaker, another supposed target for Manchester United who looks set to head to the Spanish capital, and his future have been under the spotlight since the end of the Bundesliga season although Ribery himself has remained silent.

But the 26-year-old has now admitted he would jump at the chance of joining up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema at the Bernabeu. Benzema, believed to be a higher priority on the United wish-list, confirmed he would be joining from Lyon on Wednesday, taking Madrid's spending to a near quarter of a billion euros.

I cannot believe this. Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema and now a good chance of Ribery joining as well. I really feel sorry for Robben and Sneijder, if Ribery joins there will be no place for either of them in the side.

Owen linked to shock Man Utd move

Manchester United have refused to be drawn on growing speculation they are about to sign striker Michael Owen.

The 29-year-old, who is out of contract, did not return for pre-season training with Newcastle after his deal with the Magpies ran out in June.

On Thursday bookmakers began to slash their odds on the chances of Owen, who has been linked with Everton, Aston Villa, Stoke and Hull, joining United.

UK reports suggest Manchester United are on the verge of signing off-contract England striker Michael Owen on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old is without a club after his contract with relegated Newcastle United expired last month, and has had a number of Premier League clubs register interest in his services.

The Guardian suggests he is seen by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson as a potential replacement for the departing Carlos Tevez, and Owen is due for a medical at the English champions in the next 24 hours.

Manchested United have refused to confirm or deny the rumours.
"We don't comment on transfer rumours," a Red Devils spokesman told BBC Sport.

just a bit more on it there, surely not he wants game time
